9x Gaming

9x Gaming refers to Video Gaming on any Windows 9x platform. For those who still do not understand, Windows 9x is a family of Windows that dominated the consumer market during the late 20th century (1995 - 2000). The Windows that are part of the 9x family are -

• Windows 95
• Windows 98 / Second Edition
• Windows Millennium Edition

These versions of Windows are the best capable OS that can handle most games during their times with considerable ease, running them flawlessly, while their newer and improved cousins like Windows XP or Windows Vista struggles even to understand how to make the same games just start ticking. Microsoft claims to have added several compatibility modes in newer operating systems like running programs in Windows 95 mode. But let me tell you, that hardly solves anything most of the time.

Why does this happen, when the recent versions of Windows are not only newer but are supposed to be better and robust? Well maybe they are better and maybe they are robust. But Microsoft sacrificed backwards compatibility completely to make them so.

So this blog is dedicated to keep records of how 9x games can be made to run on newer Windows. This blog will use Windows XP as target modern OS.
